The Port Hosts National Thought Leaders On Urban Development and Job Creation
In mid-June, in partnership with the Milken Institute, an independent economic think tank based in California, The Port hosted national thought leaders on urban development to generate investment for job creation to drive the growth of our region.
During the two-day event, staff from the Biden administration and local leaders provided insights on how Hamilton County can recapture its manufacturing prominence to enable our efforts to make industrial sites ready to attract advanced manufacturing jobs. Laura Brunner Receives UC Real Estate Center’s Distinguished Service Award
With more than 600 people in attendance at Music Hall, the University of Cincinnati’s Real Estate Center recognized Laura Brunner as its 2023 Distinguished Service Award winner. In its 32nd year, the award recognizes a real estate professional who best exemplifies an entrepreneurial spirit and concern for their community over a lifetime of achievement. Brunner was chosen for this award, in part, for consistently challenging the status quo and leaning into risk to improve the quality of life for all Cincinnatians. She was also commended for her commitment to reducing the racial wealth gap through real estate equality while leading The Port’s industrial, residential, and public finance practices for more than a decade.
The Port and City serve as sponsors for ULI Advisory Services Panel
The Port was proud to act as a sponsor along with the City of Cincinnati for the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Advisory Services Panel. The panel convened a group of national experts across multiple industries to provide unbiased expert advice and specific recommendations for improvement. We helped kick off the panel with a bus tour in neighborhoods along the I-75 corridor. The group spent more than two days learning about our region’s growth potential, and will provide its recommendations
by fall.
Port & AACC Host Real Estate Forum
The Port enjoyed hosting its first Real Estate Forum of the year in partnership with the African American Chamber of Commerce. We hosted a panel that answered questions about how to apply for Port properties, general Landbank processes, and the Queen City Developers. We look forward to the next one!

Employee Spotlight - Brian Ogawa - Commercial Real Estate Manager
As Manager of Commercial Development for The Port, Brian’s responsibilities include pre-development financial underwriting and analyzing due diligence items for strategic dispositions, acquisitions, and developments of multi-family and commercial properties. Ogawa also serves as project manager for stabilization and environmental remediation projects, which includes soliciting bids, managing budgets, and assisting contractors through their work.
Before joining The Port, Brian served as a development analyst and senior development officer within the City of Cincinnati’s Department of Community and Economic Development.In this role, he managed the underwriting and approval processes to obtain incentive packages for large-scale real estate development projects, including tax increment financing, loans, grants, and tax abatements. He also worked closely with neighborhood stakeholders and managed multiple grant programs to revitalize community business districts.
Brian received a bachelor’s degree in political science with minors in economic and international studies as well as a master’s degree in private industry and public policy, both from Xavier University.
